Using infrared (IR) light pens and the Wii Remote, it is possible to create very low-cost multi-point interactive whiteboards and multi-point tablet displays. Johnny Chung Lee, Carnegie Mellon University. The software can be downloaded at http://johnnylee.net

just tryed this and it works extreemly well except if u have a halogen desk lamp near to the screen surface. i made my IR pen from an old remote controll (that i hacked apart ) a ball pen casing(similar to johnny lees) a AA size battery and a push swiths (all of which were surplus to requirements) i didnt have a battery holder so i hard soldered th leads to the battery(not so good for replacing batterys) but it works well all for the grand cost of £0.00

nevermind, i know now. but you said it was low cost, i don’t think a wii remote or bluetooth is low cost.

  7. dekalbrockstar4485 Says:

i still don’t understand completely how this works. wouldn’t the wii remote have to be connected to the computer?

With a big enough desk, this is all you need to make drawing or doing anything easier.

This is why I want to learn about electronics so much.

Is it compatable for Windows Vista? After connected, the program has an error saying ‘Exception: Wiimote not found in HID device list’

I’m guessing that such a projector/LCD + Wiimote system isn’t pressure sensitive like actual graphics tablets or whiteboards (are they?), since from what I see, the Wiimote only tracks the approximate X,Y coordinates of the light pens. I still am dying to try this trick though :-).

    5/5

“the shadow emitted by the human”.. he has a really black soul, he radiates darkness, that’s what he emits around him

  21. stevic28 Says:

Only problem with this is the shadow emitted by the human

  22. 6bLOCK Says:

    yeah as in
    no surface near by xD
he was waving the pen in the air
the wiimote picked it up and bluetoothed it to his macbook
then that was set up on a projector
which was being cast on the wall like 20 ft away

he was just standing and drawing by waving the pen around xD
